An
undergraduate of the University of Lagos (UNILAG), Akoka campus, has been
reported to have lost sanity having been engaged in a marathon reading session
since resumption of academic activities.
According
to a source at the 51-year old institution, the student was reported to be
studying overnight at the Akintunde Ojo 24-hours library of the university when
he suddenly became irrational in his behaviour and was quickly rushed to the
clinic for medical attention.
Attributing
the development to pressure following resumption after the five-month old
strike by the Academic Staff Union of Universities (ASUU) that paralysed
learning activities in public universities nationwide, an eye witness said the
development unsettled many students.
The
incidence that was confirmed by the Dean, Students’ Affairs, Professor
Olukayode Amund, led to mobilisation by students for extension of commencement
date for the examination by one week.
